Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran Type 3 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.
Signal on the right: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran Type 3 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.

Went back out to Jackson County today to get the remaining unrecorded crossings recorded.

This was the last crossing I needed to record in Scottsboro to have all of the active crossings recorded in the city (I'm excluding Broad Street for obvious reasons)! As you can see, this is a fairly typical NS crossing from the late 2000s with all Safetran equipment and NEG gate lights.
They/Them for me, please.

*originally recorded on 7-18-23*

Signal on the left: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran Type 3 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran Type 3 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.

After catching NS 283, I continued east to Scottsboro to see if I could get another train. After a couple of hours of waiting, this NS 289 came through with an AC44C6M leading a Dash-9.
Behind him was a 101 with a UP GE in the new UP paint scheme leading, but a line of severe storms was about to roll through and I was hungry so I hunkered-down in a nearby Subway until that passed, which caused me to miss it. Nothing else appeared to have been in the area after, so I went on home.

As you can see, a little bit has changed here since I last filmed this crossing. A few years ago, NS replaced both of the gate arms at this crossing with the current vertically-striped ones, and re-used the NEG gate lights on the far signal. However, on the closer one, the NEGs were replaced with a set of RECO incandescents. Strangely, the RECOs they used are the older style ones! Definitely neat to see, and I'm guessing they're new-old stock as I'm not aware of any crossings on the Memphis East ever having had the older style RECO gate lights.
