My guess is the crossing is getting ready to be closed temporarily, probably for re-doing the crossing grade and most likely re-paving the road. They will put those warning signs up with the dates of the planned closure so that motorists will be aware, as it is most likely going to be closed for several days.

You can tell by the look of the grade (during the day) that it is time.

Either that, or a quiet zone may possibly be going in (don't know if one exists in the area or not) and the sign is warning drivers of it.

Yep, this crossing is getting its grade replaced. Gets closed tomorrow for 10 days.

Nevertheless, it would be quite fun to see this. However train speed gets reduced.

They ripped out the grade today, and the ties have been moved. MOW equipment was moving around yesterday and today for prepperation.
You may wanna watch this stream of the work taking place.
