*originally recorded on 7-28-19*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of WRRS 8 inch lights and a WRRS mechanical bell.
Signal on the right: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights and a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell.
After catching A724 in Donalsonville, I chased him over to this rather nice gateless crossing in Jakin. It appears that originally, this crossing featured a pair of early SCL signals. However, in the early 2000s, the right-hand signal (most likely) got knocked down and replaced with the current Safetran signal there. However, the old SCL WRRS signal on the left remains in service, which pretty much no major changes to it! The WRRS bell also still sounds rather healthy, which is quite nice to see. For some reason, the base on the older signal is completely unmarked, though I suspect it's also WRRS. Interestingly enough, this is also the only gateless crossing along the line between the Alabama state line and Thomasville, GA.
