*originally recorded on 3-26-20*
Signal on the left: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.
On March 26th, I went back down to the NS Rome Line to try and catch NS A84 and chase them. When I got to Roberta, it turned out they had already left (turns out they usually get on duty at 6:30 AM), so I had missed them on the way out. However, NS A29 (IIRC?) was switching the small yard right next to this crossing with an SD60E for power, letting me record this crossing.
This crossing isn't really anything to special, being your typical early-2000s NS install with few, if any, changes to it. Both e-bells here are quite faded on this side though. As you can see, the train stopped just short of the crossing to let the conductor off, and when they got moving again, they entered the crossing as the gates were still lowering!
Do need to get back down here at some point and shoot this local some more though, as it goes through a couple of nice crossings in the Montevallo area (while A84 starts out here in Roberta and heads east towards Childersburg and Talladega).
