*originally recorded on 3-26-20*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights.
Signal on the right: 1 pair of Safetran 12x24 inch lights, 1 pair of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, and a WRRS mechanical bell.

After catching A84 in Summer Hill, I continued on into Calera to catch the train one final time. After this, the crew tied the train down for the evening just east of Roberta.

After three years, I've finally been able to record this crossing! Sadly, the 8 inch lights that were originally here were replaced almost as many years ago, but this is still quite a nice crossing as it features a rather neat set-up on the right hand signal, along with a WRRS mechanical bell! It appears that these signals were originally installed by the SOU in the 1970s, though the WRRS bell here was re-used from another crossing (I'm guessing from a gated set-up, possibly the original signals on the US 31 #1 crossing in town, as it has a 5 inch base on it). Of course, in 2017, the original Safetran 8 inch lights here were all replaced with the current Safetran 12 inch lights, with one pair of 12x24s being mixed in with the rest of the 12x20s, for some reason. One of the rear lights on the right-hand was also re-used from another crossing.
Either way though, I'm still quite glad to have recorded this crossing, even if the 8 inch lights are long gone. I always do like signals like the right-hand one where the rear lights are mounted separately from the front lights. The WRRS bell here also still sounds rather good, so hopefully it'll be around for many more years to come.
As you can see, for some reason, the signals also did a rather long tail-ring malfunction after the train passed. As such, I took advantage of it to get pictures of the other side of the crossing.
This crossing is located just east of the diamond with the CSX S&NA South Sub.
