Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.
Signal on the right: 4 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.
After catching the southbound mixed freight in Bessemer, I continued north along the AGS South documenting crossings. Another mixed freight had pulled up to the signal in downtown Bessemer, but appeared to be waiting to meet something, so I decided not to hang around. When I got up to this crossing, I was in the process of documenting it when I heard a train horn to my south, so I got my camera set on up, and sure enough, a northbound mixed freight soon came through with an ES44DC leading a Dash-9 and another ES44DC with an SD70ACe working as the mid-train DPU. Though, in this case, "mid-train" may be a bit of a misnomer, as there were literally only 7 cars behind the DPU.
This crossing is another pretty alright one, featuring another pair of early-2000s NS signals. Like the other NS installs of this age that I've recorded on this day, there haven't really been any noteworthy changes to it over the years. One of the gate lights on the closer signal has come loose though, and can be seen leaning back behind the gate arm when it lowers. The gate arm itself doesn't seem to quite lower all the way either, so it could probably use a bit of maintenance.
The bells here also ring when the gates rise, which is pretty nice to see.
