*originally recorded on 5-24-20*

Signal on the left: 3 pairs of GRS Lex-C 8 inch lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of GRS Lex-C 8 inch lights.

On May 24th, I went out to the CSX LCL Subdivision to see if anything was coming. After waiting a while at Frankfort Avenue and not seeing anything, I decided to head over to the CSX Osburn Yard to see if anything was about to leave. When I got there though, I saw this CSX Local Freight pulling out of the yard. Thinking he'd be heading up to the NS, I went on over to this crossing, and sure enough, after a bit of waiting, the local freight came on through with a CSX Road Slug leading a CSX GP40-2!

This crossing is a very nice one, and I'm quite glad to have recorded it. The signals here appear to date back to the 70s or 80s, though I'm not entirely sure if the Southern Railway or the Kentucky & Indiana Terminal Railroad (KIT, the original owners of this line) installed them, though I suspect it may have been the late-SOU.
Either way, this crossing appears to be almost entirely unchanged since it was installed, which, IMHO, is great to see as this crossing retains a full set of 8 inch GRS Lex-C lights! The NS lines in the Louisville area used to be chock-full of both these and the 12 inch Lex-Cs, though it appears that over the past few years NS has gone through and replaced most of them, and now only three crossings are left in this area with them, AFAIK. As such, I'm glad to have been able to record these, especially since it's been a few years since I last recorded any 8 inch Lex-C lights.
