*originally recorded on 5-29-20*

Signal on the left: 1.5 pairs of WABCO 8 inch lights and a WCH 8 inch light.
Signal on the right: 4 pairs of WABCO 8 inch lights and a Safetran Type 2 e-bell.
This crossing is located in a quiet zone. Trains do not blow their horns at this crossing.

After catching Q142 in Richlawn, I chased it on over to this crossing on the east side of Pewee Valley. After this, I did chase it back over to LaGrange to get some pictures of it on the street running section of track there, though I didn't record any video, so this was the last video I shot on May 29th.

This crossing is a pretty nice one, and is easily the best one in Pewee Valley. Like some of the other cities/towns I've visited, Pewee Valley is entirely a quiet zone, though, as a result, Pewee Valley is almost entirely modern CSX signals. However, the one exception to that is this crossing, as it still features a nice old pair of gateless 8 inch signals. There's also a few private crossbuck crossings here, including one almost immediately to the west of this guy, which are also all quiet zones, strangely enough.
The signals here are a bit of an odd-ball, as they feature almost all WABCO equipment on them. I'm not entirely sure if they were re-used from an SCL line by either the SBD or CSX, or if the late-L&N installed them sometime in the 70s. WABCO 8 inch lights have cropped-up on other L&N-owned crossings, though they're quite rare to see, it appears. However, I do personally suspect they might be some old SCL signals re-installed here, as they do feature 5 inch masts, which is something I haven't ever seen the L&N do on their gateless masts.
Either way, it appears that not long after these were installed (or it may have been installed with these signals, IDK), one of the lights on the far side was replaced with a WCH 8 inch light. The crossing then remained unchanged for years until sometime between 2007 and 2011 when the original mechanical bell here (can't really tell what brand, though I'm guessing WCH?) was replaced with the current Safetran Type 2 e-bell. Since then, no major changes have occured at this crossing (thankfully), so these classic signals should hopefully remain here for a while longer. It is a bit unusual seeing gateless signals in a quiet zone, though.
