Signal on the left: 3 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights, 1 pair of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with Dialight Ball LEDs, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 1 pair of WCH 12x24 inch lights, 1 pair of Safetran 12x24 inch lights, a dying WCH mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
After catching Q574, I decided to hang around here in Crestwood for Q575. After a few hours of waiting, Q575 came through with an ES44AH leading an ES40DC on the head-end, and another ES44AH as the mid-train DPU.
This crossing is another nice one, featuring a rather nice older WCH install from the SBD. A bit unusually, the signal on the far side has had the side lights mounted on a seperate mast in front of the rest of the signal, which, IMHO, makes the signal look a bit strange. Sadly, the WCH mechanical bell here is sounding somewhat rough, so hopefully CSX gives it a tune-up rather than replacing it.
It appears that in the mid-90s, the closer signal had two of its lights struck and replaced with Safetran 12x24s by CSX. The crossing then remained unchanged for another decade or so up until sometime between 2007 and 2009, when CSX replaced the original WCH gate mechs here with Safetran ones. Then, sometime between 2015 and 2016, two of the lights on the far signal were struck so CSX replaced them with a pair of Safetran 12x24 inch lights which featured Dialight Ball LEDs. Since then, no major changes have occured to this crossing, and the WCH mechanical bell here is still hanging on, though it might be on the way out too.
The highway seen on the far side of the crossing is KY 146.
