Wishbone or "A" gate... black stripes... lantern-style gate lights.

Also notice the crossbuck says "Railway Crossing" (picture is from Ontario, Canada).

I don't think there was an FRA back in the 60s. I know the MUTCD is very old, but I'm unsure about FRA though...

probably not. One maintaier, thought, hey this is upside down... IT SHOULD BE THE OTHER WAY TO MAKE MORE SENSE! LOL

According to the MUTCD's website, Volume 1 was printed all the way back in 1935. I don't know if they talked about wigwags, and 8" lights back then, but it would be interesting to read one of those.

EDIT: Grade crossings were added to the MUTCD in 1978.
