*originally recorded on 6-30-20*
Signal on the left: 4 pairs of Safetran 8 inch lights, a WCH mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 3 pairs of Safetran 8 inch lights, 1 pair of WCH 8 inch lights, a Safetran mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
After GC L781 finished switching in Vidalia, Ethan and I chased him on up to this crossing in Soperton for the next part of our chase.
This crossing is quite a nice one, featuring a classic pair of 70s Safetran signals installed by the SCL. Up until about at least 2008, the signals were entirely unchanged. However, by 2014, the crossing had a few changes to it. Between 2008 and 2014, the original Safetran mechanical bell on the far side of the crossing was replaced. Around the same time, the closer signal (which only had only 3 pairs of lights) had a pair of re-used WCH 8 inch lights installed on it. Since then, no major changes appear to have occurred at this crossing, thankfully. All in all, I'm glad to record these nice classic signals, especially since SCL installs of this type always look nice, IMHO.
