*originally recorded on 7-3-20*

Signal on the left: 1.5 pairs of Safetran 8 inch lights, 1 Federal Signal 8 inch light, a WCH Type 1.5 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 8 inch lights, a WCH Type 1.5 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.

After catching GC Y115 heading out to the chip plant, I was gonna try to chase them a bit west (especially since they'd have to stop for a few minutes before that crossing), but a speeding ticket quickly put those plans to rest. As such, we decided just to go and get some lunch and hang out at this crossing until they came back on their way to the paper mill in Savannah. However, unlike at Old Dean Forest Road, the wait here wasn't as long. It was certainly nice to see the GP9 leading, though I'm also curious as to what kind of horn it has (and whatever it has is certainly fouled).

This crossing is also a rather nice one, being another pair of 1970s Safetran signals installed by the SCL. It appears that there haven't been too many changes to these signals, though at some point in the 70s, one of the rear lights on the far signal was struck and replaced with a Federal Signal 8 inch light. Then, in the early 2000s, the Georgia Central replaced both of the mechanical bells here (which I'm guessing were still the original Safetrans) with the current WCH Type 1.5 e-bells. Since then no major changes appear to have occurred here, thankfully. Especially since this is the last crossing in Pooler to retain its 8 inch lights.
Right down the road from this crossing, a bit behind the camera, is also NEG's headquarters, which we also stopped to take a look at (though they appeared to be closed on this day).
