CR 79, Bear Creek, AL
*originally recorded on 8-5-20*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights and a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell.
This was the next crossing I chased NS 320 after catching it in Russellville. This crossing is a pretty nice one, featuring a pair of old gateless SOU signals, with a couple of major upgrades to them over the years.
It appears that in the early 90s, NS replaced the original (8 inch?) lights on them with the current Safetran 12x24s. Then, at some point in the 2000s, the mechanical bell that was here was replaced with the current GS Type 2. Since then, no major changes have occured here, thankfully. It does appear that the front lights on both signals were repainted at some point within the past few years, but the paint on them is already starting to fade again.
They/Them for me, please.
