This wreck happened on the Alabama Gulfcoast Railroad on Muscogee Rd in Cantonment. A Logging truck somehow didn't see the train after coming around a curve 1200 feet away, and sammed into the train as it was crossing.

The crossing has 2 signals with gates, 12X24 Progress LED lights, and 2 GS E bells. The truck broke the gate on one of the signals, and left a mess of logs all over the place. INternational papermill had to come out and clean up the mess. The driver of the truck was taken to West Florida Hospital.

Whats really sad, is the line gets very low activity. Maybe 1-2 trains a day at the most.

That truck must have been flying if he was not able to stop in time. It looks like the corners on either side are well down the road.

I actually went to the crossing just now. I dont knwo WHAT was on his mind, but I could easily see the warning sign AND signal coming halfway around a S curve. Anyway, the signal that was damaged has a new gate, and most the debris was cleaned up. I was hoping to find something among the debris but alas I came hom empty handed.
