*originally recorded on 3-21-21*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights and a General Signals Type 1 electronic bell.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights.
Once I got down to Winfield, I went on over to this crossing to see about getting it recorded. Not long after I got here, the signal at the north end of the siding here lit-up with a clear indication for a northbound to come through. And after about another of waiting, this northbound autorack train came through with a pair of H3 ES44C4s on the head-end and an H2 Dash-9 working as the rear-DPU.
This crossing is quite a nice one, and easily one of the best I was able to film on the BNSF Birmingham Sub a few days ago. The signals here are a pair of classic gateless 5 inch Griswold mast signals dating all the way back to when the Frisco was around! Then, in the late-1990s, it appears that BNSF upgraded whatever lights and bell were here to the current Safetran 12x20 inch lights and GS Type 1 e-bell, the latter of which is also quite nice to see as well. Hopefully these Frisco classics are able to hang-on a while longer, given the fact that BNSF's apparently currently in an upgrade spree on the Birmingham Sub, but even if they do get replaced, I'm glad I was able to get them recorded.
