*originally recorded on 3-30-21*

Signal on the left: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.

After catching the unexpected mixed freight at the diamonds, the local freight finished-up their work and went to run the wye so they could head south to work some industry. While they were doing so, I went down here to record this crossing, where, after a little bit of waiting, we see them come flying through with a single rebuilt ex-SOU SD40-2 for power. I tried to chase them south from here, though I wasn't ever able to catch back-up with them before I had to head home to beat some storms that were soon to roll in.

This crossing is a pretty neat little one, even if it is a bit boring. The signals here were installed in the early to mid 2000s by NS, like most other crossings on the AGS North District, most likely replacing a pair of crossbucks in the process. Since then, there haven't been any major changes here, with the only noticeable changes being that the gate arms and emergency information were all replaced at some point, as is typical with NS crossings these days.
However, one thing that made me choose this crossing was that it was a nice quiet crossing that cuts right across the southern end of the yard out here in Attalla, meaning that it's a nice 5-track crossing here, something you don't really see all that often, IMHO. And hey, I've also *finally gotten* a different NS crossing in Attalla recorded in action for once, so hooray!
