Signal on the right: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights, a WCH mechanical bell, a WCH gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
After I got to Rockmart, I hung around the downtown waiting on A700 to come through. After a good while of waiting, however, I went-up to the mill on the north side of town, where I saw they'd just finished work and were leaving, back for Cartersville.
As such, I got to chasing them back, and first thought about stopping and filming them at a crossing just west of Taylorsville with some modern CSX signals, but ultimately decided against it, instead just continuing on over to this crossing. Here we see A700 one final time, rolling over the jointed rail through here at a decent pace with a much shorter train, as after this, I just decided to let them go and head back out to Rockmart and Cedartown to get some crossings documented.
After I got those documented, I went up to Rome to wait at a nice old SOU install on the Atlanta North to see if NS would run anything. Unfortunately, between the time I got up there and when the sun set, nothing came through, but I did get to wait with a nice older lady and her dog, the latter of whom apparently likes to watch trains go by.
This crossing is quite a nice one though, so I'm glad I was able to end off on it. It appears that originally, there was a 1980s CSX install here, but in the early 2000s, the signal on the far side was struck and replaced, with the bell being replaced later on at some point. Then, sometime after street view came through here in 2019, the far signal was once again struck and replaced with the current modern CSX install that remains there now. Thankfully though, the classic 80s CSX install on this side of the crossing still remains almost entirely untouched, complete with even the original WCH mechanical bell and gate mech! The WCH bell here also still sounds quite healthy, so hopefully this signal hangs around for a while longer. It's also always nice to film another older WCH signal like this, especially one with both the original gate mech and bell.
