*originally recorded on 5-21-21*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 3 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG gate lights.
After catching that local pulling into the yard, I went over to this branch line to document a few crossings (and grab lunch along the way). When I got out to the west end of the line, though, I saw G55 was working the yard next to Georgia Power's Plant Hammond just west of Rome. Turned out I'd gotten there just in time, as not but a few minutes later did they get going on their way into Rome, so I drove over to this crossing to begin a short chase of 'em. Here we see them on their way towards Rome with an ex-N&W SD40-2 leading an ex-Conrail SD40-2.
This crossing is a pretty decent one, and probably the most boring one I filmed on May 21st, lol. It's an early-2000s NS install and is still mostly original, though at some point after 2015 (and rather recently as a whole, it seems), the original GS Type 2 e-bell here must've died and NS replaced it with a GS Type 3. Nothing else really too notable with the crossing though, although it ain't on street view for some reason. Both signals here also appear to still retain their diagonally striped gate arms, which is always nice to see, especially these days. The crossbuck on the closer signal is also facing a bit more too the right than it probably should be, for some reason.
