*originally recorded on 6-10-21*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights and a Safetran Type 3 electronic bell.
Signal on the far right: 1 pair of Safetran 12x20 inch lights.
Signal on the near right: 3 pairs of Safetran 8 inch lights.

After waiting for the CN northbound that never budged, Elliot and I went off on our separate ways, so I went back over to the NS Memphis District West End to try and film more of the more interesting crossings out near Memphis. Thankfully, NS 16A was about to be leaving the NS Forrest Yard, so I went on over to this crossing. Here we see NS 16A passing through running on an approach signal with the same ES44AC/SD70ACe pair as the day prior, though with an added ES44DC from a 101 the day prior and a cut of intermodal cars on the head-end.

This crossing is a pretty nice one, featuring what appears to have originally been a gateless Southern Railway install from the 1970s. The signals here appear to have been mostly unchanged until sometime in the mid-2000s, when the previous bell here (I believe the original Safetran mechanical bell, though it could've been something different) was replaced with the current Safetran Type 3 e-bell. Then, between 2011 and 2012, the signals on the far side of the crossing were both replaced (though the bell seems to have been re-used), while the closer one just simply got a newer base. Since then, no major changes have thankfully occured to this crossing, so it remains one of the last four crossings on the Memphis West with 8 inch lights. Hopefully the remaining 8 inch signal here remains unchanged for years to come, but either way, I'm certainly glad I got to film it, especially since I've now filmed all of the remaining 8 inch lights on the Memphis West.

After catching 101 again at Colonial Road, I hopped on over to this crossing to wait for the 16A. After a bit of waiting, around sunset, I was able to catch my third and final train on this day: NS 16A with a pair of UP ET44AHs for power.

Sometime after I filmed this crossing in 2021, NS replaced the rear pair of lights (and *only* the rear pair of lights) on the closer signal with a pair of Safetran 12x20s. No idea why these were replaced, I'm guessing the 8 inch lights must've somehow got damaged. Thankfully, the front and side lights on this signal are still the classic Safetran 8 inch lights, which is great to see. I think this is the first time I've filmed a signal with 8 inch front lights and 12 inch rear lights, TBH.
