*originally recorded on 6-22-21*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of WCH 8 inch lights, an NEG electronic bell, a WCH gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of WCH 8 inch lights, a WCH mechanical bell, a WCH gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.
After making (and aborting) an attempt to continue a chase of L782, we returned to East Dublin to wait on L781, only to find-out that L781 had already left as well. Thankfully, it had *just* passed Broad Street, so we were able to successfully chase it over to this crossing on the west side of Dublin, with a little bit of time to spare. Here we see L781 on their way back-up to Macon with the same GP38-2 trio we'd seen them with the day before.
This crossing's a pretty nice one. The signals here are a mid to late-70s SCL install and would've originally featured all WCH equipment. However, at some point, the counterweight arms on the far signal were damaged, and the front one was replaced with a (re-used?) WABCO counterweight arm. Not entirely sure when this would've happened, other than occurring prior to 2008. Then, between 2008 and 2011, the original WCH mechanical bell on the closer signal died and was replaced by the current WCH mechanical bell. This was then followed by the far signal's original WCH mechanical bell being replaced by the current NEG e-bell sometime between 2012 and 2014. Since then, thankfully no major changes have occured to this crossing, though the far signal would finally have its long-damaged rear counterweight arm replaced with a brand new WCH one between 2014 and 2018. Thankfully, both signals do still retain their original WCH gate mechs and WCH 8 inch lights, which are quite nice to see. Hopefully this crossing also remains unchanged for a good while longer.
