*originally recorded on 7-31-21*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of WCH 12x20 inch lights with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs and a WCH Type 3 electronic bell.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of US&S 8 inch lights and a WCH Type 3 electronic bell.
This was the next crossing I filmed the SAM train at. I'd originally tried to get it in Leslie, GA, but I messed-up the video there on the outbound trip to Plains & Archery, so I just continued on over to Americus to get this crossing. Here we see the train making a flag-stop at the station here before continuing on their way to Plains (and eventually Archery).
This crossing is a rather nice one, featuring what was originally an old SAL install, I'm guessing from the 50s or before, and remained pretty much entirely original up until the early 2010s, including a working pair of US&S Teardrop bells! Some of y'all may recognise this crossing, in fact, as owensri2 had filmed back in 2011, the video of which can be seen here:
Sadly, in 2012 (or possibly late-2011), someone ran into the signal on the far side, causing it to be replaced with the current one. The closer signal remained untouched though, and retained its Teardrop bell for at least a few more years. Sadly though, it seems the remaining Teardrop here eventually died and was replaced with the current WCH e-bell by 2019. Thankfully though, the rest of the remaining SAL-era signal here remains untouched outside of that, even still sporting the original set of US&S 8 inch lights. Believe this is also the last crossing on the HOG to retain an original SAL signal, so that's nice to see as well. Hopefully this crossing remains unchanged for a good while longer, but either way, I'm certainly glad to have been able to film it as well.
