The next crossing I chased M730 to was this one in the Pratt City neighborhood of Birmingham. This crossing is a fairly nice one, featuring a pair of gateless signals CSX installed in the late-90s. It appears that this crossing would've originally had a pair of older gateless signals from the L&N, but I don't really know what equipment they would've used prior to them being replaced. Since these were put-up in the late-90s, however, no major changes to this crossing have occurred, which is rather nice to see. Not too often you'll find a "pure" late-90s CSX install like this, especially one that's gateless! Hopefully these signals remain around for a good while longer. I am glad to confirm another GS Type 1 still exists in Birmingham though.
Before this crossing activates, you can hear Avenue F #1 malfunctioning (which I recorded later), followed by Avenue F #2 activating. For some reason, Avenue F #2 remained down for a good while after this one shut-off, but it too shut-off shortly after I shut-off my camera. Dunno why it remained on for so long.
