After getting that coal train at Oak Avenue, I started going around town documenting some of the other crossings for the website. When I got here, however, I heard another train approaching from my east, so I quickly got set-up. Not too long after, this westbound mixed freight came through with a pair of ES44AHs leading an ST70AH.
This crossing is another excellent one, featuring another pair of late-60s/very early-70s SCL signals in service. Like with Oak Avenue, these are also still largely original and seem to have been fully original up into the 2000s, as at some point in the mid-2000s it appears that CSX replaced the original RACO mechanical bell (assuming it was still there) on the far signal with the current Safetran Type 2. Then, the crossing remained unchanged until sometime between 2019 and 2021, when the front-right mast light on the closer signal was also replaced, with a re-used WCH 8 inch light as its replacement. Around this same time, the Safetran Type 2 e-bell was repainted black to match the remaining RACO bell here. Thankfully, this crossing still retains a lot of good equipment otherwise. Most of the original RACO 8 inch lights are still here, all of the original RACO 12x20 inch lights are still here, the closer signal still retains its original RACO mechanical bell, and, of course, both signals still retain their original RACO gate mechanisms, which is rather great to see. Another thing that I saw was that the closer signal also still retained an incandescent gate light on it, which is also pretty nice to see.
