Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 8 inch lights, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 8 inch lights, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO gate lights.
After seeing NS 237 working in Greer, I continued on west over to this crossing in Taylors. After documenting it and waiting close to an hour, this westbound intermodal train came through with an ES44DC leading an SD70ACe, making it my sixth train of the day.
This is another nice crossing, featuring another pair of late-SOU signals from the 80s. It appears that these signals were still entirely original up into the 2000s, but between 2008 and 2012, NS did some upgrades here. First, both of the original GRS gate mechs here were replaced with the current Safetran gate mechs. Then, most likely at or around the same time, the original Safetran mechanical bell here was replaced with the current GS Type 2. Since then, thankfully, no major changes have occurred to this crossing, and both signals are still fully 8 inch.
