After I finished documenting the abandoned Duke Branch, I ran back over to Cary to drop off my dead hard drive and returned back to downtown Durham to get the next Piedmont train. A few minutes after getting here, this southbound Piedmont came through with the same consist as before, though with the standard F59PH leading and the F59PHI on the rear.

This crossing is another nice one, featuring another one of these nice one-way installs with a pair of gateless signals on the off-side for pedestrians. It appears that these signals were installed by NS back in the mid-2000s, most likely replacing an older SOU install of the same design, and basically haven't majorly changed since. They do feature a pair of US&S Model 95s, which are nice to see. US&S Model 95s on NS's lines are pretty well endemic to the Carolinas, though over the past few years they've started cropping-up in Georgia and Tennessee at least as well. IMHO, part of downtown Durham's skyline makes for a nice backdrop to this crossing as well.
