Recorded on 3-27-22. One of two crossings in Martin City I've managed to film at. After catching the EB stacktrain over on the Kansas Sub, I returned to Missouri to grab some lunch since I was getting hungry. I then got word that UP 1989 was going to be heading north on the Coffeyville Sub. I decided to head down to Martin City in hopes to catch it. I would unfortunately miss it as it sat down in Coffeyville, Kansas until Monday morning. I did however film two southbounds though, so I did catch some trains while I was here. The first train I caught was this empty coal train with a solo gevo leader on it. There was a stopped northbound that was tied down on the siding track just after this crossing. Speaking of the crossing, this one is an interesting one. These signals were installed sometime in the 90s by UP. Both signals used to have incandescent lights, and two wch mechanical bells until the one m bell on the closest signal got replaced with a wch e bell in 2011. Sometime in 2014 was when the far signal's m bell got replaced with a gs type 2. There used to not be sidewalks at this crossing until the city added them on from 2014-2016. Crossing itself then went unchanged until sometime after 2019-2021 when the wch e bell that existed on the closest signal got replaced with the current gs type 2. I assumed that bell died and UP replaced it. Kinda wished the e bell was a gs type 3, but what can you do. UP probably reused it from somewhere as the bell has some paint missing on it. Both gate lights are Alstom-Aurora clear led gate lights which replaced the previous Reco 4 inch lights in 2016. For some odd reason, UP installed crossbucks on the gated signals. No idea why. Kinda gives me a bit of a KCS vibe in a way.
