*originally recorded on 2-24-22*
Signal on the left: 3 pairs of WCH 8 inch lights, an NEG electronic bell, a WCH gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of WCH 8 inch lights, an NEG electronic bell, a WCH gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
After catching the southbound mixed freight, I continued north to this crossing to see about getting it recorded as well. While waiting here, a northbound pulled-up into the siding just south of the crossing and stopped, I believe tying down and/or getting a crew change here. Eventually (and by that, I mean close to three hours after I first got here), another this CSX Q424 came through with a YN3b ES44AH leading a YN2 AC44CW.
This crossing is another nice one, and I'm glad I stuck-out for it. The signals here are another pair of WCH signals installed by the SCL back in the late-70s, and are still largely original as well. The only major change here came sometime between 2012 and 2014, when both of the original WCH mechanical bells here were replaced with the current NEG e-bells. (Interestingly enough, during this same timeframe was when the old ACL searchlight signals just south of this crossing were replaced.) Since then, thankfully no major changes appear to have occurred to these signals.
These signals in their current state do look quite nice, IMHO, especially with the faded lights and bells. Hopefully, no major changes occur to these signals for a while.
