Another crossing on the UP Kansas Sub I managed to film in action today! I went out to film some trains in Kansas again since it was nice outside. First stop of the day was the UP Kansas Sub since I wanted to film another crossing on the line. I noticed a train approaching as I was crossing the tracks. Fortunately I had barely enough time to get my camera set up to start filming. The train itself as an eastbound grain train with solo sd70ace 8865 leading, with UP 7028 as the DPU. Crossing itself is another one on the line to feature a Walpar Industries cantilever. I assume at some point there was another cantilever similar to the far signal's cantilever, but that has long since been replaced with the current cantilever on the closest signal. I believe that one is made by Harmon. Like the other crossings I've filmed on this line, both the gated signals used to have older wch gate mechs, and wch mechanical bells until UP replaced them with the current newer wch gate mechs, and wch e bells. The front lights, and the rear mast lights on the cantilevers are wch 12x24 lights with wch 2nd gen leds in them. These replaced older 12x20 lights from the MoPac days, while the overhead lights simply had their lights retrofitted with Electro-Tech leds in them. There used to be a set of side lights on the closest signal's cantilever which were pointed towards Griffin Rd (which this road intersects before crossing the tracks), but when UP replaced the gated signals in 2011, the side lights on the cantilever were removed, and relocated to the gated signal. Those lights are also wch 12x24 lights with wch 2nd gen leds in them. I did film another crossing on this line over at 88th st, but that video was a total fail. I won't be uploading that video. Instead I will upload the two crossing vids I've took at Loula St in Olathe since I did revisit that crossing when I met up with my friend, Steven. A special two part compilation of the catches I've caught on the Emporia Sub after the two crossing vids will be uploaded at some point.

I had to post this, but while looking up the crossing on Google Maps, I came across this scene from the crossbuck crossing a few hundred feet away from there. I can't figure out though if this was just part of a replacement program or fixing a knockdown.

Three people to erect a crossbuck sign? I take it this guy's job is to count and post the correct number of tracks...

Woah, I wonder what was happening here back in July 2007? Doesn't look like a normal day just switching out a customer.

Willing to bet that they accidentally put that car on the ground, lol. Doesn't seem to have been too major, can't seem to find any articles or mentions of it doing a quick search on Google.
