*originally recorded on 4-2-22*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights, an NEG electronic bell, a WCH gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights, a WCH mechanical bell, a WCH gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.

This was the second crossing I caught Q650 at. As the Dothan Sub is now fully 40 MPH, I was only able to catch-up with the train at Whigham, beating it to Climax. As I'd already recorded the crossings in Climax, I just continued on over to Bainbridge. After documenting the upgrade at Sasser Store Road, I'd already made the decision to record this crossing, but only if it was still a pure 80s CSX install.
Unfortunately for me, this crossing no longer was, but as Q650 started getting close while I was documenting this upgrade, I still quickly grabbed my camera and recorded it.

As mentioned above, this crossing is a 1980s CSX install, and was also one I wanted to record back in 2019 (but wasn't able to). Unfortunately, sometime after 2019, the far signal's bell must've died so CSX replaced it with the current NEG e-bell. Thankfully, that was the only change that appears to have occurred here within the past three years, and this crossing is still largely original.
Even with the e-bell, I'd say that this is a rather nice crossing, given that it's still got a pair of older WCH signals, which I always enjoy seeing. The remaining WCH bell here also still sounds rather nice, if a bit rough, so I'm glad to see that it's still here as well. In fact, the closer signal is pretty much still entirely original, which is why I set-up on this side of the crossing. Hopefully no further changes occur to this crossing for years to come, but either way, I'm still glad I was able to record it.
I'm also glad to see that the Dothan Sub is still fully jointed rail between Dothan and Cairo, despite being 40 MPH now. It was nice getting to listen to the train as it rolled over it.
