*originally recorded on 8-30-22*
Signal on the left: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights, a Safetran mechanical bell, a Safetran EM gate mechanism, NEG LED gate lights, and a RECO LED gate light.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights, a Safetran EM gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
After catching the coal train in Livingston, I continued further east along I-90 over to Columbus for my next train. After a little while of waiting here, this westbound loaded BNSF coal train came rolling through with an H3 BNSF ES44DC leading an executive BNSF SD70MAC and an H3 BNSF ES44AC with an H2 BNSF Dash-9 shoving on the rear.
This crossing is another rather nice one, featuring another nice pair of EM signals at it. These ones appear to have been installed by the BN back in the early-70s, though in the mid-90s the MRL replaced all of the lights here with the current Safetran 12x24 inch lights. Thankfully, since then, they've remained almost entirely unchanged and even still have the original 1st Gen Safetran mechanical bell on the far signal, which thankfully still sounds *very* healthy. It seems that the closer gate mech has a bit of trouble settling, as it noticeably bounces up a little bit once after it has lowered.
Hopefully these classic EM signals remain around here for a good while longer, but, given the upgrades the MRL is currently doing, it's entirely possible they aren't going to be around for much longer. Either way, this is still a very nice crossing and I'm quite glad I was able to record it.
