*originally recorded on 1-2-23*
Signal on the left: 1.5 pairs of WRRS 8 inch lights, 1 Federal Signal 8 inch light, and a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of WCH 8 inch lights.
After chasing M531 across the Bruceton Sub, I heard from BNSFBishop that CSX I125 was heading up the Memphis Sub towards me. Due to where it had just recently passed at the time, I didn't think I'd really be able to beat it to any of the other crossings of interest on the Memphis Sub, so I just decided to set-up and wait for it at this classic crossing I wasn't able to get last time. After about 2 hours of waiting, I125 finally came through with an ES44AH leading an AC44CW for power. This is the only video I'd get of I125 proper, as well as this being the only other train I'd catch all day.
This crossing is a rather nice one, and I'm glad I got to finally record it. The signals here appear to have been a 1970s L&N install, with two bells on it, strangely enough. Later-on in the 70s or in the 80s, the closer signal had its lights replaced with the current WCH 8 inch lights. The crossing then appears to have remained unchanged until sometime in the 2000s, when the far signal had its bell replaced with the current GS Type 2 e-bell. At about this same time, the closer signal appears to have had its mast replaced, though thankfully the 8 inch lights and mechanical bell were re-used onto the newer mast. Finally, sometime between 2012 and 2018, the closer signal would sadly have its mechanical bell removed without replacement. Not entirely sure why this was done, TBH, but it is interesting to see had happened. Thankfully, the crossing still remains fully 8 inch, which is quite nice to see. Hopefully these signals still remain unchanged for many more years to come, but either way, I'm glad I got this filmed when I did, especially since it appears to be the last crossing in Huntingdon with 8 inch lights.
