*originally recorded on 2-10-23*
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, an NEG electronic bell, a Safetran-branded Siemens gate mechanism, NEG LED gate lights, and a RECO LED gate light.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, a dead NEG electronic bell, a Siemens gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
After I caught the surprise G706 at New Town Road, I continued on back down to this crossing, which I'd already been heading to to get recorded before. After getting here, I saw that nothing was coming, so I quickly got down to the Subway in Chapel Hill to grab some lunch. When I got back up here, I saw that a southbound was lined through Holt's Corner Siding, and was hearing it approaching over my scanner (though, admittedly, it was still very distant), so I got set-up and ate my lunch while I waited. After a little bit of waiting, this M521 came flying through with an ES44AH leading a CM44AC for power.
This crossing is another fairly alright one, if a bit on the boring side. The signals here were installed by CSX back in about 2017 or so, and basically haven't changed since outside of one of the gate lights on the far signal being replaced. The NEG e-bell on the closer signal has died though, making it the second dead bell I recorded on this day, and I suspect CSX will get it replaced eventually. A bit unusually with this crossing, unlike most modern CSX installs, the bells here were installed on top of the masts, rather than on the sides of them. For a few years, this was also the only crossing along the S&NA North in Tennessee with Leotek LEDs, though with the more recent replacement of one of the LEDs in Ardmore, and the upgrade of the crossing in Cornersville, this is now one of still only three crossings along the S&NA North in Tennessee with Leotek EV Series LEDs.
Also, with this crossing, I now have at least one video of every signalized crossing on the CSX S&NA North Subdivision in Tennessee! Now I've just got to get the remaining crossings in Alabama (6 unrecorded, 3 that need updated shots), along with maybe a couple of crossings that'd be nice to have re-recorded (both of which are here in Tennessee), and I'll have every crossing on the S&NA North Sub filmed!
