*originally recorded on 7-1-23*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, a WRRS mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.

After catching the CSX coal train, I went south to the parallel section of the CSX W&A Subdivision and the NS Atlanta North District, due to there still being a few crossings of interest along that part. After a very short wait, I was able to get my second train of the day: a southbound NS grain(?) train with an H2 BNSF Dash-9 leading an ex-BNSF WFRX SD70MAC and an NS Dash-9 for power!

This crossing is another rather nice one, with NS and CSX each having their own signals on their own sides of the crossing. It appears that, originally, there were some signals here installed by the L&N and SOU back in the 1960s or early-1970s. However, in the 2000s, it appears that NS replaced their signal entirely, while CSX replaced just the gate mechanism on their side with the current Safetran one, though I don't know when these upgrades would've happened. The signals here remained unchanged for over a decade after these upgrades, until early-2022, when CSX replaced the original WRRS 8 inch lights on their signal with the current WCH 12x24 inch lights & Leotek EV Series LEDs as part of the LED upgrade to the W&A Sub. Since then, however, no major changes appear to have occurred to this crossing, thankfully.
Thankfully, despite these upgrades, the original WRRS mechanical bell on the old L&N-era signal here still remains and still sounds fairly healthy. Hopefully it remains here for many more years to come, but, either way, I'm quite glad I was able to record this crossing when I did.
