Grade crossing alley

Found this while browsing YouTube. Interesting setup on some of these crossings. If I'm not mistaken there are a couple of what looks to be Griswold cantilevers as well.

Also notice a signal maintainer is working on the crossing closest to the camera. The signals are originally on when the video starts... and he shuts them off with the train about 2 blocks from the crossing. The signals do re-activate on their own though.

Very nice! Looks like a short line?? Lots of griswold cantilevers, but have 12X24 LED's Yeck.

I like the high amounts of gateless signals.

I think these crossings are already on Mike's website. Check out Ottawa, IL.

It's cute at 2:23 where the boy comes out of the side street to run after the train. Ah the memories...

Yes I took photos there back in April 2008 and they are on Mike's site, be sure to check each individual crossing on Grade crossing alley.

Prairie du Chien, WI has something similar, in that a street directly parallels the tracks most of the way through town and all the cross streets result in a string of grade crossings. However, all the signals are the same (with the exception of Hayden Street which is on the site) - 12" x 24" Safetran lights with fading L.E.D.s, US&S Model 95 gate mechanisms, a GS Type 2 electronic bell, and dual pairs of sidelights for the parallel road.

It's a heavily residential area, and - how about ingenious? - there is a night quiet zone, but during the day engineers can lay on the horn at 50 MPH all the way through town.

I think that was the camera. I have seen other camera's do that with LED lights for some reason.

Some WCH Clear LEDs do that too. Not all, but some.
