Mike's Railroad Crossing Forum

A severe thunderstorm developed just south of McKinney this afternoon, so I made a quick trip over to the closest crossing (Industrial Blvd.) to get some photos with the dramatic sky backdrop. By the way, this crossing hasn't changed much since the photo taken in Y2K. This is very near the southern end of the active portion of this line. The line is still active through McKinney and there are quite a few freight customers. However, south of this crossing the line becomes defunct as it goes through Fairview, Allen, and north Plano and there are several places where the track is cut or impassible. Then the track becomes active again as the DART Red Line to Dallas.

Nice sky. On Google Maps I can see how they had to keep this crossing open to have room to pull south and shove into the point-trailing spur that crosses Millwood Road. Country Club Drive looks like it could be open, although the track is in worse shape. Then, the bridge over Greenville Road is missing!
