*originally recorded on 7-31-24*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Modern Industries 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, a Siemens gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, a WRRS mechanical bell, a Siemens gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.

After I caught the southbound CSX mixed freight, I decided to head south on the A Line to get a few more crossings along the CSX South End Sub filmed. I first Elm City for a couple of crossings, going to this one first. After a little bit of waiting, I was able to get my eighth train of the day here: Amtrak 90 flying north towards Rocky Mount with an ALC-42 for power.

This crossing is another nice one, featuring another old ACL install from the 1950s at it. The signals here appear to have remained largely unchanged for several decades. However, in the latter-half of the 2010s (maybe about 2018 or so?), CSX did a couple of upgrades here. The first of these was replacing all of the US&S 8 inch lights here with the current LED 12x24s, with the far signal getting a set of reused MI 12x24s. At about the same time, it appears, CSX replaced both of the original WRRS gate mechs here with the current Siemens ones. Thankfully, since then, nothing else too major appears to have occurred to this crossing. Amazingly, the (I believe) original WRRS mechanical bell is still on the closer signal here and still sounds nice and healthy. Hopefully these classics remain here for many more years to come, but, either way, I'm glad I was able to get them recorded when I did.
