Signal on the left: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran Type 3 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a Safetran Type 3 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
After catching the ballast train in Fort Payne, I hopped back on US 11 and continued chasing it south to try and get at least one (or more) crossing(s) filmed on this day. Thankfully, I got ahead of it going into Collinsville, so I decided to quickly pull off of the highway and got set-up here with a few minutes to spare. Here we see this southbound ballast train for the second time on this day, this time flying through downtown Collinsville.
This crossing is another decent one, featuring a mid-2000s NS install, and it basically hasn't really changed since. At some point earlier this year though, NS did go through and upgrade all of the gate lights here to RECO LEDs, but, otherwise, I can't really think of anything too major that has changed since these signals were installed. This is one of four crossings on the NS AGS North District in Alabama with Safetran Type 3 e-bells though, and, with this video, I have now recorded all four of them. Admittedly, there are only two more Safetran Type 3s up in Georgia, for a grand total of six crossings on the NS AGS North District with Safetran Type 3 e-bells. Maybe I should try to get those two recorded at some point.
