On March 27th, I got on up and got back down to the NS East End District in Georgia to film some more crossings out that way. After noticing that the first crossing I was going to go for had recently been upgraded (and documenting said upgrade for the site), I decided to head over to this crossing and wait. After a little bit of waiting, I was able to catch my first train of the day: NS A25 with a pair of SD60es for power. Interestingly, these SD60es were also sister units!
This crossing is a rather nice one, featuring a late-70s SOU install that's been well modernized by NS. It appears that, in the early-2000s, NS replaced the bell here with the current GS Type 2 e-bell. Then, sometime between 2008 and 2012, NS replaced the lights here with the current 12x20s, though they were originally incandescent. Then, in the mid-2010s, NS upgraded this crossing to LED, though I'm not sure if it would've initially gotten GE Uniform Look LEDs before these GE Dotted LEDs went in. Either way, since then, this crossing has largely remained unchanged, with the original Safetran gate mechs here still remaining in use despite the various other upgrades to this crossing over the years. Hopefully they remain here for many more years to come. The GS Type 2 e-bell here does sound a bit quiet and scratchy, so I suspect it may be on its way out, however.
