Why do these 'special events' always happen at the times when I have new pictures!
Wisconsin and Southern Railroad EMD SD20 2055 leads sister 2054 on a unit grain extra entering the Madison, WI yard on July 12, 2007. All six of WSOR's SD20s have since been sold to industrial railroads or taken out of service.
The Illinois Central Gulf Railroad's Paducah, KY shops built the SD20s from ex-Southern SD24s and ex-UP SD24Bs in 1979-1980. The turbochargers were removed and they were de-rated slightly to 2000HP, but they received electrical upgrades and other improvements to make them more reliable. WSOR operated six of the locomotives from 1996-2007. Indiana Harbor Belt (IHB) still operates several in road service.
