Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs, a Safetran Type 3 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
After catching 394, I'd heard they were going to be meeting a 395 somewhere to my east, so I decided to hang around here and wait. After a little while of waiting, I was able to get my sixth train of the day: NS 395 with an SD70ACe leading an ES44DC for power! Definitely nice to get another ACe leading on this day.
This crossing is a pretty nice one, featuring a mid-70s SOU install at it that's been modernized over the years. It appears that in the early-90s, NS replaced the base on the closer signal, and, at the same time, the closer signal had its lights upgraded to Safetran 12x24s and the far signal had only its front pair upgraded to the same. Then, sometime between 2008 and 2013, the far signal had its bell replaced with the current Safetran Type 3, and the lights on that signal were all replaced with the current Safetran 12x20s (which were originally incandescent). Finally, sometime in the mid-2010s, NS upgraded this crossing to LED, and replaced the 24 inch backgrounds on the closer signal's lights with the current 20 inch ones. Thankfully, since then, nothing else too major seems to have changed to this crossing. I'm definitely glad to see that the original gate mechs on both signals here are still around, hopefully they'll remain here for many more years to come. Either way, I'm definitely glad to have gotten this crossing recorded.
