After catching the southbound coal train in Kerrville, vtgrxrman and I continued on up to this crossing in Covington to try for at least one more crossing before heading back home to Huntsville, AL, for the evening. Thankfully, just after sunset, we were able to catch our fifth and final train of the day: a northbound CN intermodal train flying through with CN 3309 (an AC44C6M with CN's old "wafer logo") leading CN 3230 (a 100th anniversary ET44AC), another (more standard) ET44AC, and an ES44AC for power! This was definitely a great train to end off the day with, and what was probably our best catch of the day! After this, we got some supper, filled-up the 9, and made the 4 hour drive back to Huntsville.

This crossing is another great one, featuring a late-70s ICG install at it that's still almost entirely original! The only major change here appears to have occurred here back in the early-2000s, when CN upgraded this crossing to LED. Then, sometime between 2020 and 2023, CN replaced the original relay case here with a new one. Thankfully, nothing else appears to have changed to this crossing since then, and it still retains all of its original equipment otherwise. I'm especially glad to see both all of the original 8 inch light heads and the original Safetran mechanical bell are still around here. Hopefully they remain here for many more years to come, but, either way, I'm quite glad I was able to get them filmed when I did.
