Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs, a Siemens gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
This crossing is located in a quiet zone. Trains do not usually blow their horns at this crossing.
After catching the southbound SunRail commuter train, the southbound Silver Meteor was getting very close so I hopped on up to this crossing to try and get it. Thankfully, I was able to beat it here with a few minutes to spare, and here we get to see Amtrak 97 roll past with a P42DC leading an ALC-42 for power.
I will admit, I hadn't originally been planning to shoot this crossing, though with how close 97 was I wasn't sure if I would've been able to beat it anywhere else interesting. The signals here are some older ones though, despite being pretty well modernized. Definitely far from the most interesting one on the SunRail, though I'm glad I was still able to get it.
It appears that the signals here were originally a pair of old ACL-era ones (based on the rusty pinnacle mounted on top of the far signal), though, in the 1980s, the Seaboard System replaced them with the current Safetran ones. After that, later-on in the 80s or in the early to mid-90s, CSX replaced the relay case here with the current one. Then, in the mid-2000s, CSX replaced the bell here with a Safetran Type 2 e-bell. The crossing remained unchanged for a few years after that, but, then, sometime between 2011 and 2013, SunRail replaced the Safetran Type 2 e-bell here with the current GS Type 2 e-bell. At about the same time, it appears, the closer signal had its original Safetran gate mech replaced with the current (reused?) Safetran gate mech. The crossing was once again left largely alone for a few more years, but then, sometime between 2019 and 2020, SunRail upgraded this crossing to LED. Finally, sometime after 2021, SunRail replaced the remaining 80s Safetran gate mech on the far signal here with the current Siemens one.
