*originally recorded on 6-24-25*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Modern Industries 12x24 inch lights, 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs, 1 pair of Safetran 12x24 inch lights, a Safetran Type 3 electronic bell, a WABCO Model 75 gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 3 pairs of WABCO 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 1 electronic bell, a Siemens gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.

After catching the southbound Floridian, I hopped on down to this crossing for my next train as I knew that the southbound Silver Meteor wasn't too far behind. Not too long after I got here and got this crossing documented, I was able to catch my second train of the day: Amtrak 97 flying south with a pair of ALC-42s for power.

This crossing is a rather nice one, featuring an early-SBD install from the early-80s that's still decently original. It appears that, in the late-90s, a few changes occurred here: the far signal had its rear mast lights replaced with the current Safetran 12x24s, both bells were replaced with GS Type 1s, and the closer signal had it's gate mech replaced with a Safetran one. Admittedly, I'm just speculating on a couple of these, the far cantilever could've had a GS Type 2 from the 2000s and the closer signal may have gotten its Safetran gate mech in the mid-90s or 2000s. Either way, the crossing remained largely unchanged until sometime after 2007 and before/during the early-2010s, when the bell on the far signal was replaced (again) with the current Safetran Type 3 e-bell. Then, sometime between 2018 or so and 2021, CSX replaced the closer signal's gate mech once again, this time with the current Siemens one. Finally, sometime between 2021 and 2023, CSX replaced the overhead lights on the cantilever with the current LED Safetran 12x24 inch lights.
Thankfully, despite these upgrades and changes over the years, this crossing still retains some rather neat equipment at it, most notably the original WABCO 12x20s on the mast signal here! The mast signal here also still retains a good-sounding GS Type 1 on it too, while the cantilever still has its original WABCO Model 75 gate mech, all of which are nice to see. Hopefully this crossing remains unchanged for many more years to come, but, either way, I'm quite glad I got to record it when I did.
