After catching the Silver Meteor for the third time at CR 315, we went back down to this crossing in Green Cove Springs to try and wait for the Auto Train here. On our way down to this crossing, a northbound CSX local freight managed to slip past us, though I will admit I wasn't too bothered by that as I hadn't expected to get nearly as many crossings on this day as I had so far. Anyways, we were able to get to this crossing with plenty of time to spare, and, after a bit of waiting, we were able to catch our final train of the day: Amtrak 52 with a P42DC leading an ALC-42 for power! Definitely kinda neat that I only got the older Genesis locomotives leading on this day, don't think I've managed to get that in quite a while, especially with four different Amtrak trains like this!
This crossing is another rather nice one, featuring what appears to be a mid-70s SCL install at it. In the 1980s, it appears that the SBD replaced all of the mast lights here with the current MI 12x24s. At about the same time, the front-left overhead light on the cantilever here was also replaced with the current WCH 12x24, and it appears that the FS 12 inch lights had their backgrounds replaced with the current 24 inch ones. Then, in the late-90s, CSX replaced both bells here with a pair of GS Type 1 e-bells. Finally, sometime between 2011 and 2015, the closer GS e-bell here was replaced with the current Safetran Type 3 e-bell. Thankfully, since then, nothing else too major appears to have changed to this crossing.
Definitely nice to finish-off the day with some more older SCL signals, especially since both of these still have their original WABCO Model 75 gate mechs still as well. It's also nice to see the older Harmon cantilever on the far side there, with most of its original overhead lights as well, always do enjoy filming Federal Signal 12 inch lights. It's also nice getting to find another GS Type 1 e-bell, though the bell is sadly pretty well drowned-out by the Safetran Type 3 e-bell here. The backgrounds on the lights here were also all pretty decently faded as well.
I'm definitely quite glad I was able to record this crossing when I did, however, as it appears that CSX was about to be replacing the older signals here with newer ones. When I was here, CSX had recently installed a brand new relay case next to this crossing, though no Orange Conduit of Doomâ„¢ or new foundations had been installed yet. No idea if these signals have been replaced since I took this video, but I'm quite glad I managed to get these SCL signals before they were replaced.
