*originally recorded on 8-8-25*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights, a Safetran mechanical bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights, a Safetran Type 2 electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, RECO gate lights, and a RECO LED gate light.

After catching M210, I saw that something was lined north on the A&WP Sub in LaGrange, so we hopped on down to this crossing to record it next. After a bit of waiting, I was able to get my seventh train of the day here: a northbound CSX ballast train with an ET44AH leading an ES40DC for power.

This crossing is a great one, featuring what I believe is an old A&WP install from the early-80s that's still mostly original! In fact, it appears these signals were installed around the time Safetran changed the design of the gate mech covers from the late-70s-style ones to the 80s-style ones, as the far signal features a Safetran gate mech with a late-70s style cover while the closer signal features a Safetran gate mech with an 80s style cover on it. Anyways, it appears the only major change here since these signals were first installed was that the closer signal had its original Safetran mechanical bell replaced sometime between 2008 and the early-2010s with the current Safetran Type 2 e-bell. Thankfully, nothing else too major appears to have changed here, and these A&WP signals still retain their original gate mechs and lights, while the far signal still retains its original Safetran mechanical bell! The Safetran mechanical bell here does sound a bit squeaky/clicky as it rings, but it still sounds fairly healthy otherwise. The crossing also still retains a pair of older RECO incandescent gate lights on the closer signal too, which is great to see! Hopefully this crossing remains entirely unchanged for many more years to come, but, either way, I'm quite glad I finally got to record this crossing when I did.
