*originally recorded on 10-1-25*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell, a US&S Model 95 gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights, a US&S Model 95 gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.

The northbound mixed freight had met a southbound train between Holly Springs and Victoria, so I decided to head back south to try and catch it. I was originally gonna go for a crossing in Sherman that recently got upgraded, but, when I got there, I found a northbound empty coal train going through, so I decided to chase it back north to this crossing in New Albany, thinking that it'd get here before sunset. Unfortunately, I forgot how slow the trains were rolling on their way here, so obviously that didn't happen. Oh well.
Either way, I was eventually able to catch my second train of the evening here: a northbound empty coal train with a pair of ES44ACHs pulling on the head-end and an SD70ACe pushing on the rear.

This crossing is a pretty decent one, and I'm glad I got to record it, even if it was after dark. The crossing appears to have originally had some Frisco signals, based on the relay case, though it appears that in the late-80s or early-90s, BN replaced both signals here with the current ones. Then, in the 2000s (possibly the late-90s), BNSF replaced both gate mechs here with the current US&S Model 95s. At about the same time, it appears BNSF also replaced the bell here with the current one. Thankfully, since then, nothing else too major appears to have changed to this crossing. The relay case here is still the old Frisco-era one, and the bell here rings until the signals shut-off as a result, which is nice to see. Hopefully this crossing remains unchanged for many more years to come, but, either way, I'm glad I got to film it when I did.
