Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs.
After catching the second southbound mixed freight, vtgrxrman and I went down to this crossing to wait for another train, as we still had some time before we needed to be on the road for Paducah's monthly siren test. Thankfully, after a little while of waiting, we were able to catch our fourth train of the day: CSX I025 with a pair of ES44AHs sandwiching an ET44AH for power.
This crossing is honestly another great one, featuring a rather ancient pair of bell-less signals at it. The signals here still use old Peerless masts, installed by the L&N here back in the 1930s or 40s. I'm not entirely sure what-all changes occurred here in the years after, if any at all, but, I do know that in the 2000s, or early-2010s, it appears, CSX replaced all of the lights here with the current Safetran 12x24 inch lights, which were originally incandescent. Finally, sometime after EthantheRailfanner documented this crossing in 2020, the crossing was upgraded to LED. Thankfully, since then, nothing else has changed to this crossing. I'm glad to have been able to get another really old pair of signals filmed in action, along with another bell-less crossing, as I always enjoy filming bell-less installs like this. Hopefully these signals remain here for many more years to come, but, either way, I'm glad I got to film this crossing when I did. The closer signal here is also a bit far back from the tracks, I suspect due to a 2nd track that used to exist here that's long since been removed.
