Signal on the left: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs, a Siemens gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 3 pairs of Safetran 8 inch lights with Safetran Non-fading LEDs, a Safetran Type 3 electronic bell, a Siemens gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
On the morning of April 15th, I got up bright and early and made my way out to the CN Fulton Sub up near Kentucky to see about getting at least a few more crossings of interest filmed. I got set-up here and, after a bit of waiting, I was able to catch my first two trains of the day: CN A432 with an ES44AC leading an ET44AC with a friendly crew meeting a northbound empty coal train with an AC44C6M pulling on the head-end and an ES44AC working as the train's DPU! Definitely nice being able to catch a rolling meet here, NGL.
This crossing is a pretty nice one, and is the northernmost crossing on the CN Fulton Sub with 8 inch lights at it. In fact, this is the only crossing on the Fulton Sub with a mix of 8 inch and 12 inch lights at it anymore!
Anyways, it appears the signals here were originally installed by the ICG back in the late-1970s, with the far signal being a double-mast signal with L&W 8 inch lights, interestingly enough. It appears that the far signal either had some Safetran 8 inch lights originally or a few of the L&W lights were replaced with Safetran ones at some point. Either way, the crossing remained largely unchanged for several years outside of the closer signal having its base replaced with a WRRS one at some point, causing this crossing to become the last one on the Fulton Sub to feature L&W lights.
Sometime between 2012 and EthantheRailfanner's first visit here back in 2020, the crossing would see several major changes, which I partially suspect were all about the same time. On the closer signal, the gate mech and bell were replaced with the current ones while the lights were upgraded to LED. The far signal was replaced entirely with the current one, I believe at about the same time as the upgrades to the closer signal. I can't say for certain, but I do know at least the far signal and the closer signal's gate mech would've been installed sometime between 2018 and 2020. Either way, since then, thankfully nothing too major has changed to this crossing since then. Unfortunately, it appears sometime after 2021, someone ran into the closer signal and noticeably bent the mast, so I suspect CN will replace it with a newer one eventually.
Either way, with this video, I have now recorded every crossing on the Fulton Sub with 8 inch lights! I will say, I do like how the side lights on the closer signal are mounted above the crossbuck, which I think looks rather nice. It's a bit of a shame the mast on the closer signal is so bent now, especially since it means the signal will likely to be replaced. I will admit, I do think it looks a bit neat like this. Neat to see some more 8 inch Safetran Non-fading LEDs as well.
