locomotive e-bell

in case you've never seen one befor, here is what a locomotive e-bell looks like, i thought they still used mechanical bells. http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPi ... id=1088413

The vast majority of GE ES series and EMD SD70ACe locomotives came out of the factory with them.

Now they're starting to show up on older power, such as some of BNSF's GP38s. :aaargh:

On EMDs, they are mounted on right side, on the underside of the frame just above the right end of the 3rd axle.


On GEs, they are mounted on the left, on the end of the fuel tank, like this.


Also, while on the subject of bells, let's take note of 2 unusual ones:

NS SD40 1581 now has an e-bell, and it looks weird in the high-hood bracket:

And, MEC GP40 378 had her bell painted to match her paint scheme.

Pan Am Railways always treated their locos with respect. It shows right there! GO GUILFORD!
