I'm not sure what to call this...
Wow. I have never seen a crossing signal in between two tracks like that. But with the curve of the road and being a tight spot in the first place, that looks like it was about the only place they could put it.

Obviously the road is now closed. Wonder if a bad accident happened there or something?

We may find out next week. CSXRailfan2 is planning to go out here.

I'm not sure that isn't a bit of an optical illusion that it is between the tracks. Of course, the resolution and distance doesn't help... but if you look at it from this angle, it looks as though that the shiny part that appears between the tracks might be a dot or emergency contact tag, and that it's a longer mast that continues... although still located on the left side of the former roadway approach.

I agree with you; it appears that the part below the DOT tag is in shadow.

CSXRailfan2 didn't make it there, so it won't be on the next update.

I agree. That signal must be mounted quite a bit up the embankment from the tracks though. Wish I could get a copy of that picture and run it through photoshop.

Looking at it again... I agree with you.

I'm sure it's on the left side because of the curve of the road, it didn't look like there was any room for it on the other side.
